Familia Kitchen.com Publishes FAMILIA KITCHEN COOKBOOK with Authentic Latino Family-Famous Recipes—Just in Time for National Hispanic Month!

CHICAGO, IL — Sept. 10, 2022

Just in time for National Hispanic Month Sept. 15 to Oct. 15,  FamiliaKitchen.com is publishing Familia Kitchen Cookbook, a 284-page, full-color, hardcover collection of favorite, authentic Latino family recipes, including the popular website’s first 12 Recipe Contest monthly winners. FamiliaKitchen.com gathers, preserves and celebrates families’ favorite traditional recipes, how-to tips, and cooking techniques brought by Latinos to the U.S. from 20 Latin American and Caribbean Spanish-speaking homelands.

Each of the  cookbook’s 12 chapters offers a delicioso, authentic menu around a beloved dish voted No. 1 by the website’s fast-growing community of Latino homecooks seeking to Cook Their Way HomeTM. These winning recipes include Latino all-star dishes like: tacos, arroz con pollo, mole, pozole, guacamole, arepas, empanadas, ceviche, and flan.

“The Familia Kitchen cookbook is our celebration of the deep desire by Latino families to connect to all the places we come from at our kitchen tables,” says Kim Caviness, co-founder, CEO and editor in chief of FamiliaKitchen.com. ”All ages can come together to cook the family-famous dishes like the mole or arroz con pollo their relatives have been making for generations—and that was served, for example, at their great-grandmother’s wedding,” says Caviness, who is fifth-generation Puerto Rican.” Food connects us to the people we love, no matter how good our Spanish is or how far away we are from each other. We believe: Family is food  is identity is home—and that’s what this cookbook with almost 100 beautiful recipes crowdsourced from our Familia Kitchen community of homecooks is all about.”

“Familia Kitchen is filling an online void in authentic Latino cooking sites. This is our Latino families really cook. That’s why our growth has been exponential and cross-generational, and why we connect with abuelas as much as GenXers, Millennials and the Tik-Tok generation,” says Lisa Hunt from San Diego, who brings 20+ years in advertising, sales and partnerships, including Kraft Heinz My Food and Family, O, The Oprah Magazine, Food Network Magazine and Bon Appétit to her role: Familia Kitchen Chief Growth Officer and president, Familia Kitchen Publishing.

Starring unmistakably authentic dishes with titles like “Tite Rosa’s Arroz con Pollo,” from Puerto Rico and ”Gollita’s Essential Guacamole,” from Mexico,  the book speaks to homecooks of all skill levels and ages, including today’s Latino millennials and working parents, as well as older grandparents who want to pass on their family recipes, making this an ideal gift for National Hispanic Month and the 2022 holiday season. A portion of FamiliaKitchen.com’s profits go to local U.S. organizations feeding Latino in the U.S., who over index on food insecurity.

To promote the cookbook, the two co-founders are embarking on a 5-city tour across the United States during National Hispanic Month and extending into November  in: Miami, Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles and Phoenix.

The site was co-founded by two food publishing veterans who were hungry for home. “We realized there was a need to create a trusted cooking website for the Latino community seeking authentic recipes and  abuela-cooking. It’s how we really cook for ourselves and the people we love when we’re at home,” says Caviness, who grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and now lives in Chicago, after 20 years leading journalism and content teams in culture, travel and health publishing.

The cookbook is being published by Familia Kitchen Publishing and can be ordered at FamiliaKitchen.com, starting Sept. 30.
